How To: Add a Photo

Adding a Photo to a Gallery

Adding a photo is probably the most common task on the site.  It realy isn't that hard to do.

The following instructions will walk you through adding a photo to a gallery. In this example the Chris & Heidi gallery will be used.  The instructions apply to any gallery that exists or is created in the future.

1. Go to the Photos Page by clicking on the Photos link at the top of the page.

2. On the Photos page select the Gallery you want to add a photo to.

If you do not see your Gallery listed click on the 'All Galleries' link at the bottom of the page.

On the 'All Galleries' page select the Gallery you would like to post a photo to.

3. Once on the gallery page select 'add picture' from the Common Tasks pane on the right hand side of the page.

4. On the 'Publish New Photo' page select the Upload Photo button.

5. In the 'Please select the photo you want to upload' dialogue box select the Browse button and locate the photo you want to upload.

NOTE: You should upload the original size image.  You do not need to resize the image like you do with email, the site does this for you automatically.

6. After you have selected the photo you want to upload give it a Friendly Name to refer to it as.

7. Once done with step 5 and 6 click the Upload button.

8. Provide a Subject for the photo, this can be the same as the Friendly Name / Description.

9. Provide a Tag for the Photo.  Tags are used to organize relevant photos together.  Multiple Tags can be used for a photo using a comma to seperate each Tag. Tags are not required but they are highly recommended in order to keep things organized and easier to find as we get more content on the site.

If the Tag option is not available this means your Gallery has been configured to use Albums instead of Tags.  This is a similar feature and is set under the Options tab.  If you prefer the idea of Albums over Tags and your Gallery is not already configured this way please let Kyle know and your gallery can be easily changed.

10.  Once these steps are complete Save the photo by clicking the Save button.  Before saving you can preview the photo by selecting the Preview tab.  However if you do not click the Save button the photo will not be saved to the photo album so please remember to do this.

That's it!  These steps should bet you posting photos in no time.

Hey

For those using Picassa you will need to selct your pictures (moving them to the tray at the bottom) and then select 'export' into a folder (probably on desktop would work). Once you have done that you can see them as you select browse as noted above

When doing photos, it is easier to select the ones you want and place then in a separate folder on your desk top or flash drive. Then when you hit the browse button in # 5 above it gives you options of where to look for your photo. Select the desk top and then highlight the folder where you have the picturs and then select one of them. When you hit upload it will upload that one picture. If you have them only by jpeg #s you will need to know which ones you are downloading but that is not a problem.
