For anyone who wants a personal guided toup of Boston, I highly recommend you go spend a few days visitng Kyle. It was a true Life time highlight to get to spend a few days with Kyle and to get to see some of the most amazing history in our country.
I arrived Thursday evening and we wnet non stop for 4 days. We started with a view from atop the prudential center, getting a feel for how the city is laid out. It was then I learned the most amazing fact of my entire trip. About half of Boston is on land fill. That right!! They used 10 feet of Beason Hill, Bunker Hill, and Copel Hill to fill in what was basically a swamp in the back side of the bay. Took them 40 years. And what was a stinky marsh became a high dollar neighborhood.
We did a worldwind sight seeing trip. Went to Cheers for lunch, Boston commons to see the Ducklings, The old south meetin ghouse to stand right where Sam Adams and George Washington did. It was there in that exact spot that the revolution was planned. Went inside Paul Rever's house, the only home left standing, inside the Old North Churce where the lanters were hung, saw where many of our founding fathers were buried, and on and on.
We ate at the oldest restaurant in America, 1829 Oyster Bar where we ate raw Oysters exactly where Daniel Webster did. He had a tall glass of Burbon and water with each dozen, We had beer!
Highlights were many but the Red Sox game at Fenway and the JFK library has to be tops. Oh and the Museum of Fine Arts was too. In fact there were too many high lights to name the best, They were all great!
We ate crab, oysters, sushi, chicken, fish, and probably the neatest place was Mikes's Pastery. A small bakery that had a line out to the street. For hours!!!
From my landing at the airport to the last day and lunch at th ecrab shank, it was a most meorable trip. I saved a few things for my next rip and can't wait to go again!
In fact, Kyle invited me to St Lucia when he goes again. Night just do that one!!
